Before learning how to juice, we need to know what juicer we should even use. There are plenty of juicers you can choose from such as, manual press, masticating, triturating, centrifugal, etc.
The key factors you want to look for when making a purchase are;
Price
Reliability
Practicality/Usability
Nutritional Yield
Cleaning
A juicer that that will get you great nutritional yield for greater health benefits will sit at $300 at the lowest. There are cheaper ones below that but they don’t usually produce good yield and may even succumb to malfunction. Some juicers may produce great juice but are much more difficult to take apart, clean, and take up time in the day. Each juicer has different attributes but the concept is usually the same when it comes to learning how to juice.
This is a YouTube channel you should check out if you want to compare juicers side by side.
When learning how to juice, for most juicers(not all require one depending on juicer), take your plunger and press your produce into spinning blades or auger. No, not the one in your bathroom silly, but the plunger that came when you ordered your juicer.
Have your drinking container for your juice to pour into and you will usually have another container for when the excess comes out, I recommend using a plastic bag in that container to save on cleaning and you can either reuse or dispose of right away.
Make sure you also have some sort of filter and most juicers should come with one, and if not you can buy some online for various prices. They prevent pulp from entering your juice.
You may choose to drink the pulp, but they can be so disgusting that drinking lawn mower clippings is more satisfying.
Enjoy Your Drink
Finally, enjoy your drink. Drink slowly so you don’t have any indigestion. You actually absorb more nutrients by sipping on your drink rather than gulping it down. So take your time. Your taste buds get to enjoy it longer anyway.
Storing Juice For Later
If you decide to store other juice for later, then watch this video will serve a demonstration on how to actually do it and other informative information but I will go over it as it is really easy and not hard to do. It is however important that you do this correctly so your juice doesn’t spoil as juice is easily prone to oxidation.
The first thing you will want to do is to purchase the following;
Mason Jars, Food Saver Mouth Jar Sealer, Plastic Vacuum Pump
Once you make your juice, place the lid on top of the mason jar (you can buy them along with the mason jars or they come with them). Place the sealer on top, put the bottom of the vacuum pump and press it down really hard and pump 8-10 times. Be sure to take off the lid easy for you don’t want to accidentally remove the lid. Take the metal ring that came with your jar and tighten it to give it that extra layer of security.
